The defender has struggled to have an impact at Newcastle.
The Evening Chronicle has claimed Newcastle United defender Curtis Good will leave St. James’ Park at the end of the season as he failed to break into the senior side.
The 24-year-old has failed to feature for Rafa Benitez’s first team this season, instead making three appearances for the Toon’s second string in Premier League 2 as well as two EFL Trophy outings.
The one-time Australia international is set to see his Newcastle contract expire in the summer, with the likes of Jamaal Lascelles, Ciaran Clark, Chancel Mbemba and Florian Lejeune ahead of him in the pecking order.
Now, Good is set to end his six-year association with Newcastle after first joining the club from Melbourne Heart in July 2012.
He managed just two senior appearances as the Toon have decide to forget about extending his contract, which the Daily Star claims is worth £12,000 a week.
Given a fair chance?
Good has hardly been given the necessary first-team football to show Benitez, or any other Newcastle manager, that he has what it takes to shine at senior level.
However, loan spells with Dundee United and Bradford City hardly did his case for game time any good, while an unsuccessful trial with PEC Zwolle was probably the nail in the coffin.
In Newcastle’s point of view, offloading Good is the obvious move with the player on a hefty contract despite making just two senior appearances for the Toon.
