Report: Cuadrado moves towards contract extension

Despite interest from Manchester United and Barcelona, Juan Cuadrado is reportedly close to committing to another year at Fiorentina.

After weeks of frenzied speculation, Fiorentina winger Juan Cuadrado may opt to stay where he is for another season.

The Colombian international has been linked with a number of top European clubs after an excellent 2013-14 campaign in Serie A and an impressive World Cup.

It has been reported that Manchester United and Barcelona are ready to do battle for his signature, but Fiorentina have always insisted that they have every intention of keeping Cuadrado.

Cuadrado has been in key meetings with Fiorentina directors over his future and they seem to be getting closer to finding a contract renewal that suits him.

La Nazione reports that Fiorentina haven’t yet received a concrete offer for Cuadrado and they have attempted to tie him down for the coming season, spurred on by the injury to striker Giuseppe Rossi.

According to the Tuscan newspaper, Fiorentina are ready to offer Cuadrado a vast pay rise that represents four times his current salary.

Fiorentina hope the hike will keep Cuadrado at the Stadio Artemio Franchi until this time next year when they could agree a deal with Barcelona or Manchester United.
