Report: CSKA want Awoniyi, just as Chalov is linked with Liverpool

Liverpool striker Taiwo Awoniyi is reportedly wanted by CSKA Moscow.

According to the Liverpool Echo, CSKA Moscow are interested in signing Liverpool striker Taiwo Awoniyi, but would have to pay £15million to get him.

Awoniyi, 21, joined Liverpool back in 2015, but work permit issues mean he has been loaned out five times now; FSV Frankfurt, NEC Nijmegen, Royal Excel Mouscron (twice) and Gent have all taken the Nigerian on loan.

Now back at Liverpool, Awoniyi’s future is unclear, and it’s believed that whilst Liverpool are open to a loan deal, they would also sell him for £15million.

CSKA Moscow are interested in bringing him to Russia, and have made contact with Liverpool about a potential move to sign him, with a permanent move wanted.

What’s interesting is that Awoniyi’s links with CSKA have emerged just after The Mirror claimed that Liverpool want to sign their striker Fedor Chalov this summer.

CSKA’s interest in Awoniyi may now give Liverpool the ideal opportunity to engineer a swap deal, in which they can sign Chalov whilst offloading Awoniyi to bring the price of a deal down.

Awoniyi’s status may be impacted by Brexit, so offloading him to get in another striker may be a wise move, with Chalov able to make an instant impact in Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Chalov hit 17 goals and seven assists last season, and looks to have a bright future. With other Premier League clubs interested in the 21-year-old, Liverpool may be able to use Awoniyi to gain the upper hand – and they should certainly ask about such a deal.
