According to the Scottish Daily Mail (29/12, back page), Celtic now face a real battle to sign Dundee United goalkeeper Benjamin Siegrist.
It’s claimed that Russian giants CSKA Moscow are prepared to give Siegrist a ‘huge financial package’, as they are prepared to pay his £1.5million asking price.
Additionally, German side Schalke are also keen on signing Siegrist, and are prepared to make their move next month.
Add in that Coventry City and unnamed Dutch sides also want Siegrist, and it’s becoming a real battle for the 28-year-old’s signature.
The report notes that Celtic are still considering a move of their own but haven’t yet decided whether to move, having been unconvinced by $5m summer signing Vasilis Barkas.
Beating CSKA and Schalke won’t be easy; the £1.5million isn’t the problem, but the wages they can both offer pose a threat.

Siegrist spent seven years at Aston Villa without making a single appearance, and having impressed with Vaduz, he headed to Dundee United in 2018.
The Swiss stopper has excelled in Scotland, prompting Celtic’s interest – but the Bhoys could now miss out to CSKA or Schalke if they don’t move quickly.
