According to The Telegraph, Crystal Palace are keen to sign Newcastle United defender Ciaran Clark amid uncertainty over his contract.
It’s claimed that Roy Hodgson is considering signing another defender, with Mamadou Sakho out of favour and likely to leave.
Clark represents a potential option given that he is out of contract at the end of the season, meaning he wouldn’t break the bank for the Eagles.
The 31-year-old hails from London despite coming through the Aston Villa ranks, and a return to the capital may be appealing to him.
Clark has recently broken into the Newcastle side, and is a regular starter for Steve Bruce, even scoring against Leeds United in December.
Bruce recently told The Chronicle that discussions are ongoing with Clark’s agent about a new contract, feeling that he deserves a new deal.

Palace’s interest is now a major threat to Newcastle’s hopes of keeping him, with Clark now inside the final six months of his deal.
Clark can’t sign a pre-contract agreement with another English club yet, but the pressure is now on Newcastle with Hodgson ready to pounce.
