Remi Matthews was relegated with Bolton Wanderers in the Championship but will he soon be playing Premier League football for Roy Hodgson’s Palace?

Crystal Palace made contact with Bolton Wanderers on Thursday to enquire about the availability of goalkeeper Remi Matthews, according to Bolton News.
Phil Parkinson’s Bolton were relegated from the Championship in April in the midst of a financial crisis which threatens the entire future of this proud old club.
As a result, they are being forced to let many of their key players go. Luca Connell has joined Celtic, Sammy Ameobi has signed for Nottingham Forest while long-serving David Wheater is training with Kilmarnock.
But could Matthews be the next to go? The 25-year-old only joined Bolton from Norwich City in January but Crystal Palace want him to provide competition for Wayne Hennessey and Vicente Guaita at Selhurst Park.
Bolton News even claims that Matthews has not been paid his wages since March, so you could understand why he might be keen to seal a shock switch to the Premier League.

This is unlikely to be a signing that will get Crystal Palace fans excited for the upcoming 2019/20 campaign, however. It has been a frustrating transfer window for The Eagles and, after selling Aaron Wan-Bissaka to Manchester United, they face a major challenge holding onto Wilfried Zaha too.
A new third choice goalkeeper isn’t going to distract Palace fans from the concerns at hand.
