Crystal Palace are reportedly considering a move for Duvan Zapata this summer, despite the striker already agreeing a loan switch ahead of next season.

According to a report from The Sun on Sunday (19/5; page 63), Crystal Palace could move for Sampdoria’s Duvan Zapata this summer should Christian Benteke leave Selhurst Park during the coming months.

It is no surprise that Roy Hodgson is hoping to strengthen his attacking options this summer. Neither of the two players who reached double figures for Premier League goals this past season are strikers, with Michy Batshuayi leading the way for those leading the line with five goals to his name.

Batshuayi is now set to return to Chelsea, and the Eagles are seemingly setting their sights high in their attempts to bolster their ranks.

The Sun on Sunday (19/5; page 63) reports that Palace want Zapata, following his outstanding campaign in Italy. The Colombian spent this past season on loan with Atalanta and scored 22 goals in Serie A.

The Sun adds that Zapata is potentially available for around £15 million despite already agreeing to return to Atalanta for another loan spell next season.

Palace have some seriously exciting players in Wilfried Zaha and Aaron Wan-Bissaka. And while some will argue that their departures are inevitable at some stage, improving the rest of the squad may delay their exits for a little longer.

And if Zapata does head to Selhurst Park and manages to produce anything like the form that he has shown in Italy this year, that would certainly give Palace a fantastic chance of making the kind of progress that tempts their key men to stay.
