The Eagles are being linked with a move for the Sporting Lisbon goalkeeper.

Reports in Portugal are suggesting that Crystal Palace are interested in signing Sporting Lisbon goalkeeper Beto in January.

It is reported by A Bola that Palace are keen on making a move for the Portuguese goalie, who is currently the second-choice stopper at Sporting.

Beto, who has played 11 times for Portugal, only returned to his boyhood club Sporting this summer after three successful years at Sevilla.

He is however not getting regular football at the club – with Rui Patricio the undisputed number one at the Estadio Jose Alvalade.

That said, the report also claims that Sporting would be reluctant to let Beto go, as he offers such excellent back-up to Patricio.

Beto is also believed to be happy at the club. He is back in his hometown and is winding down his career.

Palace making a move for the player would also come as something of a shock.

The Eagles already have three goalkeepers at the club with French international Steve Mandanda, Welsh number one Wayne Hennessey and club stalwart Julian Speroni all fighting for the number one spot.

Signing Beto would certainly seem to be an odd move on their part.

That said, Palace have been leaking goals this season and perhaps Alan Pardew is not happy with any of the options at his disposal.
