Crystal Palace are eyeing up a potential deal to bring Parma winger Yann Karamoh to the Premier League before the summer is out, as reported by FootMercato.

The Patrick Vieira rebuilding project may be underway at Selhurst Park, with two exciting young talents arriving for a combined £28 million, but The Eagles will need a lot more than Michael Olise and Marc Guehi if they are to avoid being dragged into a relegation dogfight next term.

Andros Townsend’s shock move to Everton means Crystal Palace look a little light down the right-hand side.

Signing Karamoh would help in that regard, of course, with the former Inter Milan youngster arguably at his most effective in the position Townsend vacated when his contract expired on July 1.

Can Yann Karamoh replace Andros Townsend at Crystal Palace?

The former France U21 international is almost certain to leave Parma before the end of August after one of Italy’s biggest clubs finished bottom of the Serie A table next season, the sleeping giants quickly slipping back into their slumber.

FootMercato report that, while Palace have an interest in the now-23-year-old Karamoh, the Premier League outfit are yet to make anything approaching an offer for a player who once joined Inter Milan for a cool £11 million as a teenager in 2011.

Karamoh had caught the eye at Caen the previous season and, according to the man himself, turned down Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain in favour of a move to the San Siro (Standard).

He might wish he’d never bothered. Karamoh would make just four Serie A starts for the Nerazzuri before moving on.

Though a jet-heeled forward once labelled the ‘new Kylian Mbappe’ during his formative years in French football has succeeded in making a name for himself elsewhere, even if his impressive performances could not save Parma from the drop.

Parma paid £6 million for Karamoh and it remains to be seen how much of that investment they will make back, with Ligue 1 champions Lille also interested.
