Turkish outlet Fanatik claim Crystal Palace and other Premier League clubs have been watching Besiktas midfielder Gedson Fernandes ahead of the summer window – a player many may recall after his failed loan spell at Tottenham.
Gedson, 24, joined Tottenham on loan from Benfica in January 2020 and was set to remain in North London for the next 18 months. However, things did not go to plan and after just 14 appearances in a year, he returned to Benfica.
After two loans in Turkey with Galatasaray and Caykur Rizespor, he moved permanently to Besiktas last summer for a fee of £5.25million. He has since starred for Besiktas alongside Dele Alli, laying on five assists in 26 games for Besiktas.
He has been ‘indispensable’ to Besiktas and that form has attracted Palace to take a look at the two-time Portugal star. Previously, he had failed to turn potential into proven quality but he is now doing so at one of Turkey’s biggest clubs.

Palace watching Besiktas midfielder Gedson after Tottenham loan
It was a woeful stint at Spurs but it does seem as though Gedson is turning his career around after his previous spell in London. It might be that he now returns to London in the summer with Palace – who have just sacked Patrick Vieira.
Palace have desperately needed some investment and it is understood that Vieira was frustrated with a lack of funds available in January. It has ended up in his exit. This summer, whoever is entrusted is surely going to be given cash.
Gedson could be one of their first signings with Dougie Freedman running the show from behind the scenes. Gedson has a contract at Besiktas until the summer of 2026, but having cost just over £5m, he might not cost a huge amount.
