Crystal Palace are looking to Serie A for new signings with Sampdoria winger Mikkel Damsgaard and Sassuolo play-maker Filip Djuricic on their radar, as reported by Tuttomercatoweb.

With so many players out of contract, Palace are facing up to a substantial rebuilding project. And it seems that Italian imports may be the order of the day at Selhurst Park.

Damsgaard has been linked with what feels like almost every club in the Premier League since the turn of the year; the rocket-fuelled winger bursting onto the scene with a stunning assist against Inter Milan in January.

Hailed by Claudio Ranieri and Christian Eriksen, this ‘enfant prodige’ could be a snip at £15 million – especially for a Crystal Palace side who, despite the best efforts of Wilfried Zaha, Ebere Eze and the improving Christian Benteke, have still scored just 31 goals in 29 games this season.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Damsgaard is not the only Italy-based attacker on the Eagles’ wishlist.

29-year-old Djuricic has enjoyed an impressive season at perennial overachievers Sassuolo, scoring his fifth goal of the campaign against Hellas Verona last weekend.

And, with his contract expiring in 2022, Sassuolo may be forced to sell the Serbia international for a cut-price fee in the summer.

Interestingly, Djuricic played nine games for Southampton during a short-lived loan spell under Ronald Koeman in the 2014/15 season.

“He’s technical, fast. He can play in different positions in midfield. He can play on the left side, on the right side,” now-Barcelona boss Koeman said at the time.

If Djuricic returns to England, he will be hoping to make more of an impression at Palace than he did at Southampton.
