Crystal Palace are planning to step up their pursuit of Cenk Tosun as they look to boost their chances of Premier League survival.
Palace may be coming off the back of a win over the Premier League champions at the weekend, but their situation in the top flight is still fairly bleak, with seven defeats preceding the victory over Chelsea at Selhurst Park.
And Roy Hodgson appears to be determined to bolster their options during the January transfer window, with the Mirror reporting that Tosun has been on the club’s radar for a long time, and it appears that the former England boss is similarly keen on the 26-year-old.
The Mirror reports that the Eagles plan to step up their pursuit of the forward, and Besiktas are open to listening to offers for him in the future, which will certainly give Palace hope about their chances of landing him.
It is surprising that Besiktas are willing to let him leave, with seven goals coming in all competitions this season, including three in seven league games.
And he was Besiktas’ hero in midweek as he scored twice to inspire the side to a 2-1 win over Monaco in the Champions League – and Hodgson is perhaps hoping that he can prove as influential if Palace manage to get a deal across the line in January.
