Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke was on the radar of Chinese Super League side Beijing Guoan.
A report in the Daily Mail has suggested that Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke plans to turn down any chance to move to China during this window.
The Mail reports that Chinese Super League side Beijing Guoan were plotting a £40 million move for the Belgium international.
Crystal Palace’s Christian Benteke
And while the prospect of making an almost immediate profit on the 26-year-old may have led some Eagles supporters to believe that the club hierarchy would consider the offer, Benteke is ready to alleviate the fans’ concerns.
The Mail reports that the former Liverpool man is settled with Crystal Palace and wants to remain a part of the club.
Crystal Palace manager Sam Allardyce
The news is likely to be a big boost to Sam Allardyce. While the additional funds may have been beneficial as the Eagles look to drag themselves away from danger, he would have known that replacing Benteke’s goals would have been extremely difficult, especially during the January transfer window.
With eight goals already to his name, it is likely that if Crystal Palace are to put some daylight between themselves and the bottom three, Benteke’s form could be vital.
