Crystal Palace had had a £9.5 million bid rejected for Leicester City’s Jeffrey Schlupp.

Crystal Palace remain in talks with Leicester City winger Jeffrey Schlupp and are optimistic about agreeing a fee for the 24-year-old despite seeing a recent bid rejected, according to Sky Sports.

Sky Sports reports that the Eagles had made a £9.5 million offer for the Premier League title winner, but had that bid rejected by the Foxes.

However, Sky Sports adds that Palace are still hoping to complete a deal for the Ghana international and are still discussing a potential switch with Leicester.

Although Schlupp has struggled for opportunities under Claudio Ranieri this season, there is no question that he could be a useful addition to Sam Allardyce’s squad, especially given the lack of depth that they boast on the left-hand side currently.

Schlupp is capable of playing in defence or much further forward, so his arrival could add an option in several areas of the field.

But Leicester fans will surely be hoping that if the wide-man does end up joining Crystal Palace, he is not able to make the kind of contribution at Selhurst Park that sees the Eagles move above Ranieri’s men in the table.
