According to the Bristol Post, Crystal Palace are set to submit a £12m bid for Celtic and Everton target Antoine Semenyo.

What’s the story?

Well, the Bristol City No.11 is a wanted man after some impressive displays in the Championship.

Celtic are said to be interested in bringing Semenyo to Glasgow, while Frank Lampard is also an admirer of the 22-year-old, and would like to have him at Goodison Park.

However, it is Crystal Palace who are now ready to make the first official move.

The Bristol Post believe a £12m bid is set to be made by the south Londoners, although it may not be enough as Bristol City demand £15m for the Ghana international.

Dougie Freedman – Director of Football at Selhurst Park – has supposedly been monitoring Semenyo for a number of years, and Crystal Palace are now convinced he can make the step up to the Premier League following his efforts last season.

The London-born forward scored eight goals in 31 Championship appearances last term, while also providing 12 assists.

In our view, Semenyo has the ability to make just as much of an impact as Michael Olise or Eberechi Eze in the Premier League.

In his final season at Reading, Olise scored scored seven goals and provided 12 assists in 44 Championship appearances, less than Semenyo managed last term but in 13 more games.

In Eze’s case, his final campaign at Queens Park Rangers saw him score 14 goals and provide eight assists in 46 Championship outings – again, a similar output to the Bristol City forward.

As you can see, Semenyo has pretty much matched the efforts of Olise and Eze in the Championship, so there is no reason why he can’t make the step up into the Premier League like they have at Selhurst Park.
