Crystal Palace have rejected a loan approach from Sunderland for goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey, according to the Guardian.

The Mackems are without Vito Mannone for the next three months, leaving 22-year-old Jordan Pickford as their most senior alternative.

However, despite signing Steve Mandanda from Marseille earlier in the summer, Palace are seemingly unwilling to let Hennessey depart.

The Eagles, who sold Alex McCarthy to Southampton following Mandanda’s arrival, also have veteran shot-stopper Julian Speroni to call upon.

Sunderland look set for a particularly busy evening, despite having already signed Lorient’s Didier N’Dong.

It is claimed that another midfielder, Yann M’Vila, is also bound for the Stadium of Light after the Mackems negotiated his release from Rubin Kazan.

David Moyes’ side have been tipped to move for a new defender and striker before Wednesday’s 11pm deadline for transfers.
