Sako left Wolverhampton Wanderers for Crystal Palace 18 months ago.

Crystal Palace are ready to offload Bakary Sako in January and Wolverhampton Wanderers want him back, reports the Daily Record.

Sako scored 38 goals in 124 games at Molineux, but left for Palace at the end of his contract 18 months ago.

The Mali international has played just 27 times for the Eagles, however, including four appearances totalling 87 minutes this season.

The Daily Mirror reported on Sunday that Sako is one of three Palace stars up for grabs next month, alongside Mathieu Flamini and Lee Chung-yong, and according to its Scottish sister paper, Wolves are ready to throw him a lifeline.

Paul Lambert’s side have no shortage of attacking midfield players, with high-profile Portuguese trio Ivan Cavaleiro, Helder Costa and Joao Teixeira each arriving at Molineux last summer.

However, it could be hard for the Championship side resist a return for Sako, who helped them to the League One title in 2014 and scored 15 times in his previous second tier campaign.

Wolves, who have struggled since the 28-year-old’s departure, earned only their second win in six games under Lambert on Saturday, climbing to 18th in the standings.
