Crystal Palace are keen to sign West Ham defender Jose Fonte.

Crystal Palace are expected to remain busy in the final few days of the summer transfer window, and signing a central defender is a top priority for them.
The Eagles have been linked with a move for Kevin Wimmer in recent weeks, but the Tottenham Hotspur defender seems to be heading towards Stoke City instead.
With time running out, Frank de Boer has turned his attention towards West Ham defender Jose Fonte to bolster his defensive set up.

According to reports from The Mirror, Palace are “ready to bid” for their former player. Fonte spent three seasons at Selhurst Park before joining Southampton in 2010.
The Portuguese international, who has 25 caps under his belt, joined West Ham in the January transfer window, but the Hammers are ready to let him move on, according to ESPN.

Fonte has started just one Premier League game this season, against Southampton, where he conceded a penalty in the club’s 3-2 defeat at St Mary’s.
Palace have made a poor start to the 2017/18 Premier campaign, having lost all of their matches so far, and conceding six goals in the process.
