Crystal Palace wanted to sign Borussia Dortmund winger Andre Schurrle during the January transfer window.

According to a report from The Sun on Sunday (print edition; 11th February 2018; page 63), Crystal Palace are plotting a summer move for Borussia Dortmund winger Andre Schurrle, having failed to land the German during the January transfer window.
The Eagles currently find themselves in a precarious position in the Premier League, but certainly one that few would have expected them to be in when they began the campaign with seven consecutive defeats in the top flight.

Roy Hodgson’s men are now 15th, but still only find themselves one point above the bottom three with 11 games to go in the campaign. But it appears that they are already making plans for if they manage to stay up this term.

The World Cup winner has struggled to break into the side since joining Dortmund for £26.9 million and was only kept by the Bundesliga side when Palace came calling in January due to injuries within their squad.
He has made the most of his chance however, scoring the winner against Cologne and providing an assist against Hamburg. Nevertheless, it appears that he will still be free to leave at the end of the season.
Good move for Palace?
Schurrle is likely to feel that he has unfinished business in the Premier League having failed to hold down a place at Chelsea before leaving Stamford Bridge earlier in his career.
He did well with the Blues, but he will be hoping, if he gets the chance to return to England, that he can emulate the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku and Mohamed Salah by proving that being written off by Chelsea does not mean that you cannot be a huge success in England.
If Palace do stay up and manage to land the 27-year-old, it would arguably be a very good piece of business indeed. But if he continues to impress for Dortmund between now and the end of the campaign, it may perhaps become more likely that Palace will end up disappointed for a second consecutive window.
