Crystal Palace reportedly want to sign Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland in the summer.
Crystal Palace are ready to make a move for Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland in the summer should they allow Vicente Guaita to head back to La Liga at the end of the season, according to a report from The Sun.
The Sun reports that the Eagles could let Guaita head back to Spain despite the former Getafe stopper only arriving at Selhurst Park during the summer transfer window.
And should the 32-year-old leave Palace when the campaign concludes, Roy Hodgson’s men plan to make a move for Potters star Butland.
The Sun suggests that Butland could look to leave the bet365 Stadium at the end of the season with Stoke looking set to fall short in the play-off race in the Championship this term. Nathan Jones’ men sit 16th in the table, 10 points off the top six with 11 games remaining.
Despite Stoke’s disappointing campaign, Butland’s stock has not dropped too much at all. He has arguably remained one of their better performers, and The Sun reports that Stoke will demand £15 million for the 25-year-old who is also attracting Bournemouth’s attention.
It has been reported that Palace will be more than happy to meet that asking price if Guaita leaves. And given the potential that Butland has shown during his career, and the fact that his best years should still be ahead of him, it is not difficult to see why the Eagles have not been put off by his reported asking price.
