According to the Evening Standard, Crystal Palace have now opened talks with Manchester United over a deal for Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
What’s the story?
Well, Erik ten Hag is keen to offload the £50m man with Diogo Dalot preferred at right-back.
Manchester United are targeting a deal for Thomas Meunier, and as a result, have decided to open talks with Crystal Palace over a move for Wan-Bissaka as the Red Devils aim to sell some deadwood.
The Evening Standard believe talks are currently taking place over a cut-price deal for the right-back, with a sum of just £10m being discussed.
That would see Manchester United take a £40m loss on Wan-Bissaka, who they signed in June 2019.
At the time, it seemed like a smart investment – it was even encouraged by Gary Neville, who described the south Londoner as a “massive talent” in an interview with the Evening Standard.
Unfortunately, Wan-Bissaka has struggled to assert himself in Manchester amid a turbulent time at Old Trafford, where a number of quality players have also failed to play their best football.
The Evening Standard add that Manchester United are considering a loan for their No.29 if a permanent deal fails to materialise, in the hope that he will impress and restore his value.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka should push for Crystal Palace return
In our view, Wan-Bissaka should be desperate to make this move.
The 24-year-old’s career has stalled significantly at Old Trafford, where many expected him to become one of the best defenders in Europe upon his arrival in 2019.
Sadly, that has not happened, but Wan-Bissaka still has time on his side.

At Selhurst Park, there are a number of young players shining under Patrick Vieira, such as Tyrick Mitchell and Marc Guéhi – both of whom have become England internationals at Crystal Palace – so we see no reason why Wan-Bissaka can’t hit similar heights if he returns.
Keep an eye on this situation, as talks continue between Crystal Palace and Manchester United.
