According to the Guardian, Crystal Palace are now in talks with Schalke 04 over a fee for Ozan Kabak, but the Eagles face competition from elsewhere.

What’s the story?

Well, as covered by us on Wednesday morning, Crystal Palace had sent an enquiry in Schalke 04’s direction regarding the 21-year-old’s situation.

The Bundesliga outfit must’ve given the south Londoners some encouragement, as both parties are now in talks over a fee.

The Guardian add that clubs from Germany and Spain are also interested in Kabak.

However, Patrick Vieira’s side are the only ones said to be in talks over a deal for the 12-cap Turkey international.

Schalke 04 are desperate for cash. As a result, they have dropped Kabak’s asking price to around £10m – £12m, according to the Guardian.

Bargain for Crystal Palace

In our view, Dougie Freedman should be writing out a cheque immediately after seeing that price.

Kabak is a vastly experienced 21-year-old, with plenty of Champions League and international experience under his belt.

He’s also shone in two tough divisions – the Bundesliga and the Premier League.

For just £12m, Crystal Palace would be silly not to sign Kabak – he could easily be worth triple that sum in a few years.

Additionally, the Turk – who the Bundesliga likened to Sergio Ramos – could be paired with Marc Guehi, who is also 21.

In the pair, Crystal Palace could have a centre-back partnership for the next decade, and an impressive one at that.

Both are great ball-playing defenders, and could really help the Eagles kick on under Vieira – in our view, this deal is a no brainer.

Get it done, Freedman.
