Alexander Sorloth hasn’t scored a Premier League goal since he joined Roy Hodgson’s Crystal Palace in January 2018.

Crystal Palace are hoping to sell £9 million misfit Alexander Sorloth, according to The Times.

Eyebrows were raised when The Eagles paid a substantial fee to sign the Norwegian international striker from FC Midtjylland on the final day of the January 2018 transfer window.

Plenty of critics suggested that Sorloth was little more than a panic buy on behalf of a club who had missed out on so many other striker targets. And, in truth, Sorloth has done little to suggest he is worth anything like £9 million.

The 23-year-old has scored just once in 20 games for Crystal Palace, coming in a forgettable Carabou Cup win against Swansea City in August. A loan spell in Belgium with KAA Gent hasn’t been too productive either with Sorloth netting three times in 17 matches for the Jupiler League outfit.

And, according to The Times, Crystal Palace will now look to sell Sorloth at the earliest opportunity – though it seems very unlikely that they will receive anything like the £9 million they spent on the striker 17 months ago.

Crystal Palace are crying out for a new striker this summer with Michy Batshuayi returning to Chelsea and Christian Benteke expected to go too.
