A report claims the Eagles asked about the AC Milan playmaker, who was also a target for Sunderland.
Crystal Palace made an enquiry for AC Milan playmaker Keisuke Honda before last month’s transfer deadline, according to Calciomercato.
However, the Eagles – along with fellow suitors Sunderland – failed to take their interest any further.
Honda, one of Japanese football’s biggest stars, was previously linked with moves to English football, notably with Liverpool, Everton and Tottenham Hotspur.
And the 30-year-old also had requests from Germany, Spain and the United States over the summer, but remained at the San Siro.
According to the Mirror, Honda was not keen on a move to Sunderland he wanted to play in Europe this season, which would also rule out Palace and indeed AC Milan.
The Mackems went on to sign attacking midfield pair Adnan Januzaj and Steven Pienaar, while Palace landed the more defensive-minded Mathieu Flamini on a free transfer this week.
Honda, who is out of contract next summer, previously played for CSKA Moscow and has played 81 times for Japan, scoring 36 goals.
