Norwich City, Bournemouth and Watford’s relegation to the Championship was good news for a number of Premier League clubs. The trio have a number of brilliant players who will attract lots of interest from top-flight sides, which will make this transfer window a very interesting one.

Crystal Palace seem to have set their sights on players from one particular relegated side. The Eagles have been heavily linked with a move for Ismaila Sarr (the Sun), but he isn’t the only Watford star they are reportedly interested in.

The Standard claimed last week that Hornets star Gerard Deulofeu is also an option for Palace to sign on loan. The report claimed that it wasn’t a priority for Roy Hodgson, but the Spaniard would be an excellent signing for them.

The 26-year-old winger has plenty of experience under his belt having played over 280 times in his career so far. Half of those appearances came in the Premier League, with Everton and Watford which should eliminate any settling-in time he might need if joins Crystal Palace.

Deulofeu, however, is eyeing a move elsewhere. CalcioMercato claim that the former Barcelona man is pushing for a move to Italy to rejoin AC Milan in the coming weeks.

The report claims that the Italian giants are looking for a winger in this window and Deulofeu, along with a few other players, has been offered to them by agents and intermediaries, but Milan are yet to decide on who they will buy this summer.

The Sun (9th August, page 60) claimed that Watford will demand a fee in the region of £15 million for their star attacker. It was claimed that Palace will find it difficult to meet the Hornets’ demands. (Read more here)

Deulofeu suffered a terrible knee injury back in February which ruled him out of action for the remainder of the season. Had the Spaniard stayed fit, he might well have helped his side avoid the drop, but sadly, it wasn’t meant to be.

With the new season starting in less than a month, Crystal Palace need to get their recruitment done soon. Deulofeu would be a brilliant signing for them but, if Milan come in, the Eagles are likely to miss out.
