The Ajax man has been linked with a move to Barcelona, but Crystal Palace are now leading the race, according to reports.
Reports emanating from Spain today suggest that the Eagles are lining up a shock £22 million bid for Ajax defender Davinson Sanchez, according to Catalan media outlet Sport.
The 21-year-old only joined the Dutch giants last summer, and his performances last term drew attention from some of the biggest clubs in the world, including Barcelona, according to Sport.
Ajax’s Davinson Sanchez in action
Standing at 6ft 2 in, the Colombian possesses a powerful frame, along with an impressive leap. He is incredibly strong aerially, and is also very quick along the ground.
His performances last season resembled those of a seasoned defender, with Sanchez displaying frightening levels of potential.
Another string to the 21-year-old’s bow is his threat from attacking set-pieces, as his six goals for Ajax in 32 Eredivisie outings go to show.
Sport claim that Palace now lead the race to sign the Colombia international, and are lining up a bid worth £22 million to beat off competition form Barca in the hope of securing his services.
And if Frank de Boer is successful in his attempt to bring Sanchez to Selhurst Park, it could turn out to be a signing of real significance for the south London outfit.
