Crystal Palace have become the latest Premier League side to register an interest in Ostersunds striker Saman Ghoddos.

According to a report from the Daily Mirror, Crystal Palace have become the latest Premier League side to register an interest in Ostersunds striker Saman Ghoddos.

The Mirror reports that West Ham United, West Bromwich Albion, Southampton and Brighton and Hove Albion are all keen on the impressive 24-year-old who caught the attention when the Swedish side gave Arsenal a scare in their Europa League tie.

However, Roy Hodgson has joined the queue with Palace now eyeing a move for the Iranian who scored eight league goals in 23 games last season and has two in his last two for Graham Potter’s side.

The Mirror adds that he is set to cost at least £5 million with Celta Vigo seeing a bid of that amount turned down during the January transfer window – and given that he has been in such good form lately, it is difficult to imagine that Ostersunds will not be looking for significantly more if he continues to impress.

Is Ghoddos good enough?

It would undoubtedly be something of a gamble to pay a seven-figure sum – if Ostersunds are not looking for even more – for a player that has spent his entire career in Sweden and has not exactly proved to be the most prolific goalscorer.

His record of 31 goals in 70 games in all competitions for Ostersunds is not bad at all, but he has reached double figures for a league campaign just once during his career. But he did show against Arsenal that he can be a threat against some very good sides – he provided two assists in the second-leg – so he may be worth the punt given that he may not eat up the entire budget for whichever side wins the race for his signature.
