It has been reported that McCarthy is set to leave Everton next month as he has not featured prominently for the Toffees so far this season.
The Republic of Ireland international midfielder has played only four times in the Premier League so far this campaign.
According to The Daily Star, Scottish Premiership giants Celtic have already made contact and want to sign the 26-year-old on loan until the end of the season.
It has also been claimed that London club Palace are interested in securing the services of the former Wigan Athletic midfielder in January.
The Eagles want to sign the former Hamilton Academical midfielder on a loan deal as well.
“Eagles boss Alan Pardew wants to toughen up his midfield by bringing in an enforcer and sees McCarthy as the ideal candidate,” adds the report in The Daily Star.
McCarthy is a good player and has proved himself in the Premier League, and given his lack of playing time at Everton under manager Ronald Koeman so far this season, it would make sense for the Republic of Ireland international midfielder to leave Goodison Park in the January transfer window.
