According to the Daily Mail, Crystal Palace are in talks to sign Manchester City forward Morgan Rogers as Patrick Vieira gets to work in the market.

What’s the story?

Well, Vieira’s first Crystal Palace signing could come from one of his former clubs as the Eagles hold discussions with the Citizens.

The 18-year-old was signed by Manchester City for £8m back in 2019, when he was just 16 years of age after impressing against them for West Brom.

Rogers has since had a taste of senior football, spending the 2020/21 campaign on loan at Lincoln City.

The teenager scored six goals and provided four assists in 28 appearances, and played in the Play-Off final at Wembley against Blackpool.

Interestingly, the EFL’s YouTube channel described him as the next Yaya Toure after he won the Young Player of the Month award for March, 2021.

Now, he could be set for a significant switch to Selhurst Park.

The perks of Patrick Vieira

Yes, Vieira might not be the most experienced manager in Europe.

However, having played for Arsenal, and worked at the Etihad Stadium, his contacts will be invaluable to Crystal Palace.

Clearly, he has a good relationship with Manchester City, as he has entered talks with his former employers just days into his role in south London.

Manchester City helped Vieira transition into management once his playing career ended, offering him a role as manager of their Elite Development Squad.

He then took over at New York City, Manchester City’s sister club who are also part of the City Group franchise.

Now, it seems like he’s got his eye on one of the brightest gems from his old club’s Elite Development Squad.

If Vieira can make these type of deals happen, Crystal Palace fans will have plenty to be excited about.
