According to the Daily Mail, Crystal Palace and Manchester United have held positive talks over the signing of Donny van de Beek.

What’s the story?

Well, this would be quite the move by Crystal Palace and Patrick Vieira.

The Daily Mail believe internal talks have been held among chiefs at Selhurst Park, after the opportunity to sign Van de Beek arose at the start of the week.

Negotiations between the Eagles and the Red Devils have been positive, with Manchester United open to loaning out the £120,000-a-week man.

Crystal Palace were not expecting to make a signing this month, but now, there is optimism that a deal for Van de Beek can be sealed before Monday’s deadline.

The £40m man has played just 68 minutes of Premier League football this season, scoring one goal.

It wasn’t long ago that the 19-cap Netherlands international found himself in the top 25 of the Ballon d’Or after a stunning season with Ajax.

Van de Beek scored 17 goals and provided 13 assists in the 2018/19 season to help Ajax reach the Champions League semi-final, which landed him a place on the Ballon d’Or shortlist in December 2019.

Now, just a few years later, the 24-year-old could find himself on loan at Crystal Palace, which would be special for the south Londoners.

In our view, this would dwarf the arrival of Yohan Cabaye as the biggest signing in Crystal Palace’s history.

In truth, we can’t even recall many Ballon d’Or nominees being linked to the Eagles, let alone enter advanced negotiations to join.

Keep an eye on this saga, as it looks like Van de Beek could soon be joining the likes of Odsonne Edouard, Conor Gallagher and Wilfried Zaha at Selhurst Park.
