According to The Guardian, Crystal Palace hope that Jadan Raymond can ‘lead a new generation of homegrown players’ after rejecting Leeds United.
It looked like Raymond would leave Palace over the summer, as Leeds moved to try and bring him to Elland Road in an ambitious attempt.
The Daily Mail noted that Manchester City were also keen on Raymond, but his talks with Leeds seemed to make the Whites favourites.
In the end, the teenager decided to stay at Selhurst Park, signing a two-year scholarship deal with Palace back in July.
Now, Raymond has been named in The Guardian’s ‘Next Generation’ piece, and Palace allegedly have high hopes for him having kept him out of Leeds’ clutches.
The 16-year-old, who predominantly plays as a central midfielder, already has two caps for England’s Under-17’s, and will have hopes of becoming Palace’s next homegrown star.

Nathaniel Clyne, Victor Moses, Nathaniel Clyne and Aaron Wan-Bissaka have all emerged through the Palace ranks, becoming Premier League players in the process.
Raymond could now do the same, with Palace holding him in high regard. Maybe Leeds will keep in him on their radar, but they may well have missed their chance to sign him now.
