Crystal Palace are reportedly looking at AEK Athens defender Ognjen Vranjes as an alternative to Liverpool centre-back Mamadou Sakho.

Crystal Palace are interested in signing Ognjen Vranjes from AEK Athens in the summer transfer window, according to The Mirror.

It has been reported that Palace are looking at Vranjes after being forced to give up on Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho.

Liverpool reportedly rate the 27-year-old former Paris Saint-Germain central defender at £30 million, which is claimed to be too expensive for the Eagles.

According to The Mirror, Palace manager Frank de Boer is considering alternatives and has Vranjes on his radar.

It has been reported that the 27-year-old centre-back has a £4.5m buy-out clause in his current contract at AEK, but the Eagles value him at closer to £2m.

The Bosnia and Herzegovina international defender is also claimed to be keen on a move to England in the summer transfer window.

Palace narrowly avoided relegation to the Championship at the end of last season and have made a disappointing start to the 2017-18 Premier League campaign.

The Eagles lost their opening league game of the season 3-0 to Huddersfield Town at Selhurst Park and then went down 1-0 to Liverpool away from home at Anfield at the weekend.
