According to The Times, Crystal Palace are expecting to snap up Swansea City striker Jordan Ayew in a swap deal involving defender Jairo Riedewald.

The Eagles have been quiet in the transfer market so far this summer, and whilst a shock move for ex-Schalke playmaker Max Meyer appears to be close, a striker has to be a priority too.

Christian Benteke endured a dismal season in front of goal, Alexander Sorloth is still awaiting his first Premier League strike, whilst Connor Wickham is only just coming back from a lengthy injury lay-off.

Now, The Times report that Palace are pushing to sign Swansea City’s Jordan Ayew, and are expecting to sign him in a swap deal for Jairo Riedewald.

Ayew, 26, hit 11 goals in all competitions for Swansea last season, including seven in the Premier League, but he couldn’t prevent the club’s slide into the Championship.

The Ghanaian forward has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs this summer, and Palace seem prepared to give him another shot in the top flight, giving Roy Hodgson another attacking option in his 4-4-2 system.

It’s added that the deal is likely to include Riedewald, who was one of Frank de Boer’s first signings for the club last summer in what was a torrid stint at Selhurst Park.

The former Ajax talent, 21, started just four Premier League games last season, but Swansea may love the Dutchman’s versatility, given that he can play at left back, centre back or holding midfield, and it remains to be seen whether Palace throw cash into their bid too.
