According to The Telegraph, Crystal Palace and Everton are interested in signing FC Metz defender Fabien Centonze this summer.
What’s the story?
Well, the 26-year-old has been performing well in France, and has earned admiring glances from the Premier League as a result.
The Telegraph believe Centonze is on both Patrick Vieira and Frank Lampard’s shortlist of targets, as they aim to strengthen their right-back department.
Jonjoe Kenny is out of contract in June, whereas the south Londoners need to freshen up that area with Nathaniel Clyne and Joel Ward both in their thirties.
So far this season, Centonze – who the Mirror claim is valued at £8m – has made 17 appearances in Ligue 1, scoring four goals while also providing one assist.
The Telegraph add that FC Metz are likely to sell the Frenchman if they are relegated – as things stand, they sit bottom of the league, eight points from safety.
Crystal Palace and Everton might’ve found a gem
In our view, Centonze sounds like a very exciting target.
The Voiron-born defender made his way into a feature from the Guardian, who describe him as an outstanding player who is also a strong ball carrier from the back.
Interestingly, we believe Crystal Palace have the edge over Everton.
Why? Well, Vieira is in charge, a man who is an icon of French football.
Seeing as Centonze himself is French, should it come down to a choice of Vieira or Lampard, we feel he’ll opt to link up with the 45-year-old at Selhurst Park.
