Crystal Palace have become the latest Premier League club to join the race to sign West Bromwich Albion forward Saido Berahino.
A report in the Daily Mail has suggested that Crystal Palace have entered the running to sign West Brom forward Saido Berahino.
The saga surrounding Berahino’s future appears to be set to reach an end in the coming months. The Mail reports that the 23-year-old’s contract at the Hawthorns expires at the end of the season, and with the Baggies not having any luck getting the academy graduate to sign a new deal – despite putting a £60,000 a week contract on the table – Tony Pulis is ready to cash in on the striker.
West Brom’s Saido Berahino
The Mail reports that £10 million may be enough to land the youngster during the January transfer window. And while that fee may seem extremely large for a player who is out of contract in the summer, West Brom hope to land almost as large a figure through a tribunal if he leaves when his deal ends (via Mail).
Despite not playing for the first-team since September, and not scoring a goal since February, Berahino is attracting a huge amount of attention from other clubs, with Everton and Stoke interested in a potential deal.
Crystal Palace manager Sam Allardyce
However, Crystal Palace have now also joined the race for the forward as Sam Allardyce looks to strengthen his squad as they look to move away from the relegation zone.
And with the Daily Mirror recently suggesting that the Eagles are prepared to sell club-record signing Christian Benteke to raise funds, it would appear that they would have the resources required to win the race should they let the Belgian go.
