Crystal Palace will use the £10 million windfall gained from Alexander Sorloth’s move to RB Leipzig to finance a deal for Brentford’s Said Benrahma, according to The Guardian.
While Christian Benteke spent another season struggling in front of goal, a striker farmed out on loan by Roy Hodgson was scoring for fun in Turkey.
But if Palace fans were hoping Sorloth would be handed a fresh start in south London after hitting the net 33 times at Trabzonspor, winning the Golden Boot and the Turkish Cup along the way, it seems they will be disappointed.
Julian Nagelsmann confirmed his interest in the rangy Norway international earlier this month and, according to The Guardian, the Leipzig boss’s wishes are about to come true (BILD).
Sorloth is set to replace the departed Patrik Schick at the Red Bull Arena with Champions League semi-finalists Leipzig agreeing to pay £20 million – a fee that would be split equally between Crystal Palace and Trabzonspor.

However, if Palace supporters are frustrated to see Sorloth leave on a permanent basis this time, the impending arrival of Benrahma is some consolation.
Talks are under way with the Algeria international, although Palace have yet to meet Brentford’s £25 million valuation. That could soon change, however, with Sorloth’s sale boosting the coffers.
The Eagles have already snapped up one of the most gifted and influential forwards in the Championship and, after he was left out of Brentford’s squad at the weekend, a Benrahma and Eberechi Eze partnership should have Palace fans excited after years of less-than-thrilling football at Selhurst Park.
