According to The Telegraph, Crystal Palace are interested in re-signing Nathaniel Clyne, with just nine days to go until the 2021/22 season begins.
What’s the story?
Well, the Eagles signed Clyne on a short-term deal back in October.
The 30-year-old went on to start 13 Premier League games under Roy Hodgson, before his short-term deal expired.
Now, the former 14-cap England international is a free agent.
However, despite technically being unemployed, Clyne has featured for Crystal Palace during pre-season.
The right-back – who came through Crystal Palace’s academy – has also been spotted training at the club’s Beckenham base.
Crystal Palace would be mad not to re-sign Nathaniel Clyne

In our view, it would be crazy not to hand Clyne a contract.
The ex-Liverpool man impressed for the south Londoners last season, and it’s a bit of a mystery as to why he hasn’t already been offered a deal.
After all, Patrick Vieira has been using Clyne ahead of Joel Ward in pre-season, so you’d presume that Crystal Palace plan to keep him.

Additionally, it’s worth noting that the defender boasts fantastic experience, having racked up 198 Premier League appearances.
That will be invaluable to youngsters like Nathan Ferguson and Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, who can lean on players like Clyne for advice and guidance.
Simply put, Crystal Palace would be fools to let Clyne go.
