According to The Daily Mail, Crystal Palace are considering a move for Vitesse Arnhem’s Max Clark, amid doubts over the future of Patrick van Aanholt.

The left-back is on the Eagles’ radar as Van Aanholt has just 12 months left on his contract. Academy graduate Tyrick Mitchell has been deputising impressively, but a new left-back is still on Palace’s list.

Clark has appeared for England at Under-16 and Under-17 level. He has previously played for Hull, where he enjoyed a breakthrough season in 2017/18.

In a Tigers side featuring Harry Maguire, Jarrod Bowen, Fikayo Tomori and Michael Dawson, the left-back made 27 Championship appearances.

Another of his ex-teammates is Real Madrid wonderkid Martin Ødegaard.

The pair of them spent time together at Vitesse Arnhem in the 2018/19 season.

Interestingly, in an interview with Sky Sports from December 2019, Clark spoke about his performance up against Hakim Ziyech in a 1-1 draw with Ajax.

The Crystal Palace target grabbed an assist and also – by his own admission – bossed the man who Chelsea just spent a reported £33.3 million on, according to Sky Sports.

‘Ajax are a top team, for example, and I had to mark Hakim Ziyech. To be fair, I had probably my best game this season against him. Defensively, he didn’t get much past me. I was solid and I really feel like I am getting better all the time.’

Clark’s contract with the Dutch outfit expires at the end of the campaign, which The Daily Mail state has raised the hopes of interested sides who believe he could be obtainable.
