Crystal Palace could reportedly make an ambitious move to try and sign Luka Jovic as they look to bolster their striker options.

According to a report from Sky Sports, Luka Jovic is one of the names that features on Crystal Palace’s list of ambitious targets, with his asking price likely to keep the Eagles from seriously entering the race for his signature.

Despite their stunning victory over Manchester City at the weekend, Palace have issues to address in the January transfer window, with just 17 goals coming in their opening 18 Premier League fixtures.

Wilfried Zaha is the only forward to have scored a goal in the top flight this term, so it is little surprise that Roy Hodgson wishes to sign a new goalscorer when the window opens.

And while Sky Sports reports that they have Dominic Solanke on their radar, they add that Jovic is a player that Palace have on their wishlist – but they appear to be being realistic about their chances of signing the Serbia international.

The 21-year-old is enjoying an incredible season in the Bundesliga with Eintracht Frankfurt, scoring 12 goals in 15 appearances, including just 11 starts.

He also scored five goals in six Europa League games, including three starts. With that form, it would be a surprise if he was not being considered by most of the top teams on the continent.

Sky Sports reports that his asking price is likely to rule Palace out of the running, but it may please the Selhurst Park faithful that they are looking at this calibre of player.

The interest hints that they could be willing to make a big statement in the window, even if that is not with Jovic, and address the problems that have prevented the side with the second-best defence in the bottom-half from moving further away from the relegation zone.
