Crystal Palace appear to be on the verge of landing Everton striker Arouna Kone on a short-term deal.

According to Sky Sports’ live transfer feed (31st January 2017; 20:17), Crystal Palace are closing in on a deal to sign Everton striker Arouna Kone.

Sky Sports reports that the 33-year-old has just six months left on his contract at Goodison Park, but it appears that he will not get the opportunity to run that contract down.

Eagles boss Sam Allardyce seems to be keen to hand Kone the chance to move to Selhurst Park, and Sky Sports reports that a deal has now been agreed between the two Premier League clubs.

Though Crystal Palace supporters may be concerned about the acquisition of Kone, given how little he has played for Ronald Koeman’s men this term, the move appears to represent little risk for the club as Sky Sports adds that he is set to only sign a deal that will keep him with Palace until the end of the season.

Though his record for Everton probably means that his arrival at Palace will not capture the fans’ imagination, the nature of the deal may help bring the best out of him, which in turn could help Allardyce’s men as they look to avoid relegation.

He may arrive with additional motivation to try and prove that he deserves an extension at the end of the season, and that may boost their survival hopes perhaps.
