The Arsenal defender’s contract is about to enter the final 18 months and Crystal Palace are eyeing up a move.

A report in The Sun has suggested that Sam Allardyce is interested in signing previous Crystal Palace target Kieran Gibbs from Arsenal.

The Sun reports that Gibbs has previously been on the Eagles’ radar, and Allardyce’s recent arrival has seemingly seen that interest reignited.

And it appears that they could potentially have some luck if they try and make a serious move as The Sun adds that Gibbs may well be allowed to leave the Emirates during next month’s window.

The left-back’s contract with the Gunners expires at the end of next season, so it may perhaps not be the biggest surprise if he ended up moving on especially as he has struggled for opportunities this term.

And a move to Selhurst Park may certainly appeal. Crystal Palace arguably lack depth on the left-hand side of defence and so Gibbs may face a much less difficult challenge trying to hold down a regular spot in the team.

And given Allardyce’s record for elevating teams into mid-table in the Premier League, it may not be too long before the Eagles are well away from the bottom three and attracting much better players on a regular basis.
