Glasgow Rangers are in the driving seat to sign Jason Cummings, but the Ibrox side are certainly facing competition.
Cummings has endured a mixed few months at the City Ground, and his situation was left uncertain by the departure of Mark Warburton as manager and the subsequent appointment of Aitor Karanka as his successor.
The Scottish Sun reports that the Gers are eyeing an initial loan deal for the 22-year-old – who scored 55 league goals for Hibernian before joining the Championship side – and talks are set to begin this week.
However, it appears that they could face competition for his signature. The Scottish Sun adds that Palace are interested in offering him the chance to move to the Premier League, while Wigan could consider a bid as they look to secure promotion out of League One.
The interest in him should surely tempt Rangers to act quickly. The Scottish Sun suggests that the Light Blues are in the driving seat, and the Scottish Premiership side should undoubtedly do everything they can to close the door on their rivals.
Cummings was fairly prolific during his time at Easter Road and should only get better as he gets older and gains more experience. And with Graeme Murty not having many strikers to pick from, the addition of Cummings on loan could prove to be a brilliant piece of business.
