According to ABC Sevilla, Crystal Palace and West Ham were interested in signing Sevilla forward Munir El Haddadi during the summer window.
What’s the story?
Well, the Premier League duo are said to be among of a number of clubs who tried to sign the £890,000 attacker.
Munir’s agent – named Valdi – said: “Ajax were also considering him.
“That was a good option, but perhaps his long period of inactivity took its toll. In England, both Crystal Palace and West Ham showed a lot of interest until the last day of the market.”
Now, this is a very interesting story.
Munir was once among the hottest prospects in Europe, breaking through at Barcelona when Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez were present.
However, the Moroccan has failed to live up to his enormous potential, and scored just five goals in 36 appearances last season.
Clearly, Crystal Palace and West Ham have seen enough to be sure that Munir is still talented enough to make an impact in the Premier League.
What would Crystal Palace and West Ham be getting in Munir?

Well, it’s clear that Munir isn’t exactly putting his name up in lights at Sevilla right now, so it’s difficult to see how he’d succeed in England.
However, if one of the London-based clubs can sign him for a relatively low fee, it would definitely be worth doing based on his potential alone.
Some players develop late, in fairness to Munir.

Once described as the new Messi, Munir was also praised heavily by Cesc Fàbregas, who called the attacker a ‘special’ player.
As quoted by SPORT (via Goal), the ex-Arsenal maestro said: “Munir really is something special. From what I’ve seen of him in training, he is a really good player.”
Despite his early promise, it would definitely be a risk for either Patrick Vieira or David Moyes to bring him to the Premier League.
As aforesaid, only a cheap deal would make this worth doing, in our view.
