According to the Daily Mail, Crystal Palace and West Bromwich Albion are in the race to sign Norwich City’s Ben Godfrey, who is currently on loan at Shrewsbury Town.
Godfrey, 19, came up through the ranks with hometown club York City, even returning to the Minstermen after a brief stint with Middlesbrough.
The teenager moved on to Norwich City in 2016, but has played just six first-team games for the Canaries, and is currently out on loan at League One side Shrewsbury.

Godfrey has starred for Paul Hurst’s side this season, featuring in a holding midfield role as the Shrews sit second in the league one table.
Now, it seems that the youngster is attracting interest, with the Daily Mail reporting that Premier League trio Crystal Palace, Southampton and West Bromwich Albion are all keen to land him in 2018.
Roy Hodgson and Alan Pardew will both be looking to strengthen their sides, and whilst avoiding relegation will be the key for Palace and West Brom, adding a talent for the future may be a smart move.
Meanwhile, Southampton’s history of bringing through young players could be appealing to Godfrey, though Norwich are surely bound to put up a strong fight to keep him at the club.
The 6ft 2in teenager can also play in defence if needed, with his versatility coming in handy – and with the England Under-20’s considering calling him up, Godfrey could be in line for a huge 2018.
