Crystal Palace and Middlesbrough are competing to sign £3-million-rated Slavia Prague player Michael Ngadeu-Ngadjui, according to The Sun.

Ngadeu-Ngadjui can operate as either a central defender or defensive midfielder, and has played in both positions for the Czech side in the league and Champions League qualification this season.

He helped Slavia to the title in his debut campaign in Prague and is said to have ‘shone’ as Cameroon lifted the African Cup of Nations earlier this year.

Both Palace and Middlesbrough are being tipped to add to their defensive lines this summer and it is claimed the pair have watched Ngadeu-Ngadjui, whose contract expires in two years’ time.

However, the report does not state whether the 26-year-old being sought in addition or as an alternative to any ongoing targets they may be pursuing ahead of Thursday’s transfer deadline.

French side Montpellier are also credited with interest in the player, although he is said to favour a move to English football.
