A report from the Evening Times has suggested that Celtic’s talks with Craig Gordon regarding a new contract have been put on hold, but the Hoops remain optimistic about getting the goalkeeper to commit his future to the Scottish Premiership club.
The 34-year-old was linked with Premier League leaders Chelsea during the January transfer window, the Evening Times reports, and despite Gordon wanting to speak to the Blues about a potential switch, the Bhoys rejected all of the bids that came in for the stopper.
It appeared, despite Gordon wanting to discuss a potential Stamford Bridge switch, that the Scotland international was ready to commit his future to Celtic as the Evening Times adds that he wants a four-year deal at Parkhead.
However, there appears to have been a twist as the Evening Times suggests that the talks have now stalled leading to speculation that Gordon – whose contract expires next summer – may be keeping an eye on whether Antonio Conte’s men come back in for him at the end of this season, despite Celtic’s insistence that they will not sell him.

Given how Gordon has performed since coming back into the team earlier in the season, it could certainly be argued that he is deserving of a lengthy extension.
The former Sunderland man has been incredibly reliable over the recent months, and it would not be a surprise if he continues to play at a high level for several years.
