Coventry City have reportedly pipped Sheffield United and West Bromwich Albion to the signing of Morgan Williams.
According to the Daily Mail, Coventry City have beaten Sheffield United and West Bromwich Albion to the signing of teenage defender Morgan Williams.
The Sky Blues have set about boosting their squad ahead of their return to League One, and have not only tied up a permanent deal for Jonson Clarke-Harris, but also signed Zain Westbrooke, Junior Brown and Reise Allassani.
Mark Robins’ men added another new face today, as they recruited young defender Morgan Williams, who has been in the ranks of the Jamie Vardy ‘V9’ Academy.
The 18-year-old was with non-league side Mickleover Sports before heading to Vardy’s academy, which has a strong success rate in terms of giving young players big moves.
Now, the Daily Mail claim that Coventry’s move was something of a coup, as they beat interest from St Mirren, Queens Park Rangers, Sheffield United and West Bromwich Albion to his signature.
It’s claimed that Coventry manager Robins showed the enthusiasm to convince Williams to make the move to the Ricoh Arena instead of joining a Championship club.
Williams will now look to develop with the Sky Blues, and the likes of Sheffield United and West Brom may keep tabs on him for the future in case they look to reignite their interest.
