The Rangers manager, Steven Gerrard, has used Middleton sparingly in the second half of his Ibrox tenure.
The Rangers winger, Glenn Middleton, could still be on his way out of Ibrox this summer.
Middleton is one of a string of wide players currently on Rangers’ books.
And he was expected to join Doncaster Rovers on loan until the surprise departure of their then manager, Grant McCann, to Hull City.
Middleton, who featured regularly for Rangers in the first half of last season, was back playing for the Gers’ Under-21s on Tuesday.
And the Scottish Sun reports that another League One side, Coventry City, have joined the race to sign him, presumably on a temporary basis.
Interestingly, Middleton grew up in Northampton, less than 40 miles from Coventry, after his family relocated there.
And the prospect of a return to the area could work in Coventry’s favour, if they are to pursue a deal for the young Rangers talent.
