Italian outlet CMW claim that Antonio Conte wants Tottenham to sign Inter Milan right-back Denzel Dumfries in a move that would see the Italian gaffer raid his old team once again – and Emerson Royal could be included.
In the summer, Tottenham signed Ivan Perisic from Inter – albeit, after the Croatia star’s contract expired at Inter. Now, they could return to raid Inter for the Netherlands international. The position at right wing-back is a problem area.
Conte has three options. But Royal has earned critics for his performances this season, while Matt Doherty has been in and out of the side – injury hampering his momentum. Djed Spence was not a Conte signing, and is still a rookie.
The latest report claims Conte wants to solve his lack of quality options on the right, by signing Dumfries. The Dutch flyer, 26, has impressed since joining Inter in 2021 – having a hand in 16 goals in 62 games. He is rated at £35million.
Indeed, Tottenham are keen to sign him after just 18 months at the Giuseppe Meazza. Inter have shown interest in Royal in the past and the report suggests that the Brazil international could be included, to drive Dumfries’ price down.

Conte wants Tottenham to sign Dumfries and Emerson could be included
On Tuesday night, Conte highlighted just how little he trusts his three right wing-back options. He started left-footed Ryan Sessegnon on the right, over Doherty, Spence and Royal. Clearly, he will want to sign a right-sided defender.
Dumfries would be ideal. He is made for the role in Conte’s side and without doubt, would solve the issues in that area. Arguably, one of the world’s best in his specialised position. He is incredibly attacking, but quick enough to get back.
If Spurs could get Dumfries for a figure in the region of £15million to £20million plus Royal, it solves two issues. They would be signing a quality wing-back, solving a Conte issue, but also getting rid of a player that has not done enough.
