Antonio Conte was reportedly livid with Tottenham Hotspur defender Emerson Royal this afternoon.
The Lilywhites recorded a massive 1-0 victory over Burnley in North London to move fourth in the Premier League standings, above Arsenal who visit Newcastle United tomorrow.
With such a slender lead, there was palpable tension inside Tottenham’s stadium.
Animated as ever, the Italian manager was kicking every ball on the touchline because two dropped points today might’ve spelt disaster for their Champions League qualification effort.
Football London has reported that one moment in the final quarter saw Conte’s tension boil over.
According to Football London, the 52-year-old manager left his technical area to scream instructions at Emerson to not get so pinned back.
Conte wants him gone
In the end, it was another pretty good performance from the former Barcelona right-back who, in the absence of Matt Doherty, seems to be rebuilding himself at Spurs.
However, Conte still wants him gone.
Well, apparently.
Two months ago, it was reported that the Italian wanted Tottenham to listen to offers for the Brazilian defender following what had been a very lukewarm first season in the Premier League, with the same being claimed back in January.
Emerson is not a Conte signing, having joined under Nuno Espirito Santo.
HITC Sport predicts, however, that it won’t be easy to sell the former Real Betis defender and it’ll be fascinating to see what the plan is regarding him this summer.
